The Lords Commissioners

of Her Majesty's Treasury have had before them your letter (59833/80) of the 18th instant, on the subject of the Retired Pay of Major General Gordon, Superintenden of the Victona Gaol, Hong Kong.

Jam to request that you will inform the secretary of state that My Lords Cannot consent to any retrospective effect being given to the New Rules sanctioned by the letter from this Department of the 19th ultimo, But they may be applied to the Case of Major General Gordon and other like Cases from not earlier than that date. My Lords would point out,
